Congratulations to our Future Health Professionals who competed this week at the WI State HOSA conference! Freshman Vivek Sivan placed 1st in Job Seeking Skills and finished in the top five on Nutrition knowledge. Seniors Ayomi Obuseh and Canaan Odeh moved on to nationals with a 2nd place finish for their Community Awareness project on the connection between teacher diversity and student mental health. Team Stephanie Ran and Elizabeth Liu also made West proud with their win in the Health Education category. Go West!

On Saturday, April 12th, the West Forensics Team competed against 77 other schools in the state, and landed in the final four! Every member of the team contributed to this impressive placing, and everyone can take great pride in their accomplishments. It was a long and emotional day, and the last tournament for most of our seniors. West had 17 semi-finalists and 11 finalists, the most in team history.  The finalist included runners up Josef Rademacher in Informative Speaking and Ellie Hulan in Radio Announcing, and State Champions Katherine Walsh in Oratory and Angie Jiang in Impromptu Speaking and Student Congress. Angie also became the second person in state history to take three speech and debate championships in one year. Also at the state tournament, forensics coach John Rademacher was presented with the 2018 William Hintz Memorial Award for Coaching Excellence by the Wisconsin Forensic Coaches' Association. Learn more about the West Forensics Team at their Facebook page and their website.

Congratulations to the West Rocket Club for an outstanding performance at NASA’s Student Launch.  They brought home first place trophies for Best Looking Rocket and the coveted Altitude Award, reaching just 9 feet away from the target altitude of 5280 feet!  Way to go West Rocket club!
