donate to support Friends of West High Drama

Congratulations to the cast, crew and orchestra of The Sound of Music, and a big thank you to all parents who volunteered selling concessions, bringing food, hosting the cast parties, and doing a multitude of other activities. West’s high-quality productions couldn’t happen without our talented and loyal cast of parents. A special thank you to Ruth DeWeese for coordinating volunteer efforts, Susan Hetico for creating all the fangrams, Ellen Rosner for managing concessions, and Jeanne Grist and James Knight for hosting the cast parties.

friends of west high drama present Broadway West. April 11th, 2015. Madison Club.
Mark your calendars for Broadway West on April 11th. This night puts the fun in fundraiser. Spend an evening with other parents who love theater while supporting our talented kids. Come to the Madison Club for a night of games, jokes, music, food, and a silent auction. Our master of ceremonies is Madison’s own Patrick Fernan, a veteran of theater, television, and part of the Hulu original series Battleground. Don’t put it off another year, your kids will be gone before you know it. Click here for tickets.

We need donations for our silent auction at Broadway West. Email us at if you have items/services that you would like to promote at this event.

Once the crew breaks the set, they will begin work on One Acts and Fine Arts Week. If you’ve never seen West High’s One Acts, you need to go. Third-year theater students get to sit in the director’s chair, select their cast and run a short one-act play.  Not only are these shows a lot of fun, but they’re a fantastic learning experience for the students, who get to learn project management, time management, and theater production.

FWHD meets monthly throughout the school year and performs three important roles: We raise funds to help maintain the quality of West High School’s fine theater program; we support theatrical opportunities in many ways through our time and our talents; and we encourage friendships and connections among parents, students, extended families, and all others interested in a strong and involved theater community. FWHD has traditionally donated $10,000 each year to the program.

Friends of West High Drama needs your help to meet the significant costs of mounting West High’s 2014-15 theater season. Did you know that, on average, the fall play costs $10,000 to produce, and the musical costs at least $30,000? These costs are well above the budget provided by MMSD to the West High Theater Department.

We rely on the generosity of West families and community members to donate more so that West High can continue to support two shows each year.

Won’t you consider donating to Friends of West High Drama to support the 2013-14 West theater season? You may send your donations to: FWHD, 2141 Fox Avenue, Madison, WI 53711, or click the DONATE button above and scroll to “Friends of West High Drama Fund”
