Interested in Speaking at Graduation?

Graduation speeches were due on May 15th and can no longer be submitted.

Each year we have two students speak at graduation.  This is an important part of the ceremony, as the class hears two classmates reflect on four years at West, the moment, and the future.  Speeches can be no longer than three minutes in length. If you are interested in auditioning to be a graduation speaker, please complete the following steps:

  • Email Mr. McGrath, letting him know you are interested in auditioning

  • Email video of you delivering your speech to Mr. McGrath by Friday, May 15 at 4:00 pm  This deadline is final.  The two speakers selected by the committee will go to WISC TV during the week of May 18 to record their speeches for the ceremony.

Memory Slideshow

Submissions for the memory slideshow were due on May 17th and the form has been closed.

We are asking for one photo per senior that shares a favorite memory with your classmates. The plan is for this photo to be part of a video montage shown during the ceremony. When selecting, please consider the following:

-West High School Moment
-Only Seniors Pictured
-Good Lighting
-Good Resolution
-School/Public Television Appropriate

Understand we will be unable to use photos if they do not meet these guidelines.

For clarity, this is not the request for your individual photo to be viewed with your name. This is an additional photo to be used in a memory montage.

The due date for these is Sunday, May 17th by midnight.

Submit a photo on this form.

Virtual Prom

The prom interest survey has been closed.

We would like to gauge interest in a virtual prom. Please fill out this form to let us know if you would participate! If there is interest, we would plan to secure a DJ to play on a social media platform for an hour or two on "prom night" - likely Saturday, May 16th.  You would participate by planning a virtual gathering with your friends to dance and hang out (either via Zoom, HouseParty, etc).

Senior student email accounts and Google accounts will deactivated after graduation.  Seniors should make sure to move and save all information they want to keep.  Read the Instructions to Save MMSD Google Items Upon Graduation for more information.

Backing up your Google account

Graduating students will lose access on September 30, so be sure to back up your Google account files before then--even better would be to do the transfer before you turn in your Chromebook on June 4!

Here is a nice doc explaining the "Google Takeout" transfer/backup options for your Google account, and a step-by-step guide of the entire process. (If you need to create a personal Gmail account, you may do that here.)

If you know that someone else will need to take over some of your files (like in a club/organization), you should also organize folders, change ownership of files you know others will take over, or consider using Shared Folders/Team Drive

The Google transfer instructions for seniors are also on the library webpage, as well as a way that you can see what is currently checked out to you (library books, textbooks, Chromebooks.

All colleges and universities require a final transcript to be submitted after 2nd semester grades are submitted and finalized. Seniors can take care of that step right now by logging into your parchment account:

West-specific parchment landing page:

Select “hold for grades” and your transcript will automatically be sent once semester grades are finalized in June.

Reminder that counselors do not send transcripts, it is the student’s responsibility to request them via parchment
