Global Navigator Scholarships Return for Summer 2020!
Imagine summer soccer in Tanzania – with a mission to empower young girls. Or squad time perfecting your French with croissants in a magical Parisian park. What if summer outside meant reforesting mangroves and tracking endangered birds in Costa Rica? Or perhaps studying theatre in London?
CIEE’s competitive Global Navigator scholarships are awarded to fewer than 100 high schools nation-wide. Madison West is proud to be one of them. Over 60 Madison West students have participated since 2016 with award monies totaling nearly $140,000.
These funds help students study abroad in amazing destinations including China, Japan, Tanzania, Senegal, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, South Africa, Morocco, Australia, France, India, Belgium, Spain, and Costa Rica.
Any student who is presently a freshmen, sophomore or junior is eligible to apply for a scholarship to offset the cost of one of 58 summer programs through C.I.E.E. (The Council on International Educational Exchange). Scholarships are awarded based on both merit and financial need and do not include airfare. The final deadline to apply is February 14, 2020, however priority placement will be given to those who apply by December 6th. Students who apply by November 1st can enter a raffle to help offset the costs of the trip.
Interested students are invited to attend drop-in meetings on Tuesdays in October during first lunch in room 3012. Ms Schneider, C.I.E.E. coordinator for West, and former travelers, will be available to share stories and help answer questions.
